Recording

Auto 16:9 Aspect Ratio

Every recording comes out perfectly framed at 16:9.

Sirvez automatically formats your recordings to standard 16:9 widescreen, so every video looks professional without any manual cropping or resizing.

When you record a tab or desktop at a non-standard aspect ratio, Sirvez handles the letterboxing automatically. You get a consistent output format every time, ready for embeds, presentations, or upload.

Common questions

Does Auto 16:9 crop my recording?

No. Content captured at a non-standard aspect ratio has letterboxing or pillarboxing added rather than being cropped. If you record at a wider ratio, thin bars appear on the top and bottom to pad it to 16:9. If you record at a narrower ratio, bars are added to the sides. No part of your recorded screen is cut off in either case. The result is a correctly framed video that plays at standard widescreen dimensions without missing content. Full answer →

Why does Sirvez use 16:9?

16:9 is the universal standard for widescreen video. YouTube, Vimeo, most presentation tools, embedded video players, and help documentation platforms all default to 16:9. Delivering recordings in this format means they play back correctly everywhere without awkward black bars, stretched distortion, or layout issues. If recordings were delivered at non-standard sizes, they would appear incorrectly in most platforms where Sirvez videos are typically shared or embedded. Full answer →

Can I change the output aspect ratio?

16:9 is the current output format and covers the overwhelming majority of use cases for screen recordings used in demos, tutorials, presentations, and knowledge bases. Custom aspect ratios are not currently supported. The 16:9 format works correctly in every major platform where Sirvez videos are typically shared — including Notion, Confluence, help doc platforms, and website embeds — which is why it is the default and only output format.
