Recording

Tab Recording

Record a single browser tab with its audio isolated.

Tab Recording captures the active browser tab and its audio independently from other applications, giving you a clean, focused recording without background noise.

When your demo lives entirely in the browser, recording just the tab keeps the video tight. No desktop notifications, no other windows, no system sounds bleeding in.

What it does

Single tab capture

Isolates one browser tab for a distraction-free recording.

Tab audio

Captures audio produced by the tab using the Web Audio API.

No background noise

Other applications and system sounds are excluded entirely.

Tab audio capture uses the Web Audio API so the browser's audio stream is recorded at source, regardless of your system volume settings.

Who uses this

  • SaaS product demos
  • Web app tutorials and onboarding
  • Browser-based presentations
  • E-learning content creation

Common questions

What is the difference between Tab Recording and Desktop Recording?

Tab Recording isolates a single browser tab and captures only that tab's content and audio. Desktop Recording captures your entire display, including all visible windows, applications, and system elements. Tab Recording is cleaner for browser-based demos because notifications, taskbars, and other applications are completely excluded. Desktop Recording is better when your workflow spans multiple applications — for example, when you need to show switching between a browser and a spreadsheet in the same video. Full answer →

Does Tab Recording capture the tab's audio?

Yes. Tab audio is captured using the Web Audio API, which records the audio stream that the tab produces at the browser level. This means the recording picks up the correct audio regardless of your system volume setting. If the tab is playing a video, running a web app with sound effects, or producing any browser-level audio, it will be included. Audio from other tabs or other applications is not captured. What happens if I switch to a different tab during recording?

Tab Recording follows the tab you selected at the start of the session. If you switch to a different tab, the recording begins capturing the new tab's content instead of the original. This can result in unintended footage if you navigate away. To avoid this, keep the intended tab in focus throughout the session. If you do switch tabs accidentally, use the trim tool in the Local Editor to remove the unwanted section before sharing. Full answer →
