Editing

Local Editor

Trim and annotate recordings in your browser before uploading.

The Sirvez Local Editor lets you trim, pan, zoom, and annotate your recording directly in the Chrome extension before it ever leaves your device.

No upload required to edit. Your video stays local until you choose to share it, giving you full control over what gets sent to the cloud.

What it does

Trim

Cut the start or end of a recording to remove mistakes or dead air.

Pan and zoom

Direct the viewer's attention to specific areas of the recording.

Annotations

Add text labels and arrows to highlight key moments.

No upload required

Edits stay local until you choose to share or upload.

Basic edits — trimming a mistake at the start, zooming into a specific UI element, adding a text annotation — take under a minute in the local editor.

Who uses this

  • Quick edits before sharing with a client
  • Removing sensitive information caught in the recording
  • Highlighting specific UI interactions for clarity

Common questions

Is the Local Editor available on the free plan?

Yes. The core editing tools in the Local Editor — trim, pan, and zoom — are available on all Sirvez plans including the free tier. You do not need to upload your recording to access them; editing happens locally in the browser extension before you decide whether to share. Advanced editing features and watermark-free output are available on the Pro plan, but the essential tools for cleaning up a recording before sharing are completely free. Full answer →

Do edits affect the original recording file?

No. Edits made in the Local Editor are non-destructive until you explicitly export or upload the recording. The original captured footage is preserved and your edits are stored as instructions applied on top of it. You can discard edits and return to the original at any point before committing. This is useful if you make a mistake during editing or decide to take a different approach to trim points or zoom areas. Full answer →

Can I edit a recording after uploading it to the cloud?

Yes. Once a recording is uploaded to Sirvez Media Center, the full Cloud Editor becomes available in the browser — no extension needed. The Cloud Editor goes significantly further than the Local Editor: in addition to trim, it includes Zoom Effects (keyframe pan and zoom up to 2×), a Background Editor with device frames, Webcam PiP resizing and repositioning, Crop, Webcam Reaction recording, and audio muting. You can edit from any device — a different computer, tablet, or machine without Sirvez installed. Full answer →
